NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. PORT AUTHORITY AGREE ON BOUNDARY FOR NAVAL BASE

The City of North Charleston and the South Carolina State Ports Authority have reached an understanding on where to draw a boundary to divide the former Charleston Navy Base.

Under terms of the deal, the Port Authority will obtain 12,000 feet of waterfront along the deep-draft Cooper River and 600 acres of high ground.

Other details, such as inland infrastructure and zoning issues, have to be resolved before a formal comprehensive agreement can be signed.
