NUSA TO HOLD MEETING IN NEW YORK
The National Unaffiliated Shippers’ Association will hold its second annual meeting in New York, Sept. 24.
The shippers’ association was formed in 1995 by 25 shippers, which cover a variety of products such as building materials, food products, industrial goods and other commercial goods. The purpose of the association is to pool container volumes to negotiate better rates and service from ocean carriers.
Today, the group’s membership includes 62 shipper firms from 22 states, Canada, Brazil, Spain and Belgium. NUSA has ocean contracts that cover Europe, the Mediterranean, the Mideast, South America and Far East. The association wants to negotiate contracts for the Caribbean and Australia/New Zealand trades.
The NUSA’s upcoming meeting will include business discussions and presentations, as well as opportunities to network among the members.
