NYK Logistics picks WhereNet container tracking software
NYK Logistics Inc., a provider of supply chain services, has contracted with WhereNet Corp., a provider of wireless tracking technology, for a real-time locating system and management software to handle 50,000 inbound ocean freight containers in the port of Long Beach.
Within a 70-acre container yard at the port, NYK Logistics has tagged every container with an active radio transmitter called a WhereTag, part of a system using WhereNet’s WhereSoft Yard 4.0 software.
The system, which has produced a 50 percent reduction in the time for gate check-ins, maps the location of a requested container on a touch screen for yard supervisors.
