NYK sets up its first logistics subsidiary in South America
Nippon Yusen Kaisha has formed a Brazilian logistics subsidiary, NYK Logistics do Brasil. This will be NYK’s first such facility in South America, a region the carrier is particularly targeting for logistics development, as well as Eastern Europe.
The new company plans to provide total logistics services to Brazilian markets by setting up three distribution centers by the end of 2004. The first, a warehousing facility in the suburbs of Sao Paolo, will open in April 2004, said NYK.
When NYK received an outsourcing logistics order from Yamaha Motor do Brasil, Ltda., a Brazilian subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., it took the opportunity to set up its own logistics subsidiary at the same time, said NYK.
NYK Logistics do Brasil will operate under the control of NYK Logistics (Americas), Inc., NYK’s regional headquarters for the Americas.
