Old Dominion moves into new larger Portland service center
Old Dominion Freight Line continues its moves in the Pacific Northwest with the recent announcement that it has relocated the firm's Portland, Ore. service center into a larger facility.
The Thomasville, N.C.-based less-than-truckload carrier said Friday that the firm's Portland Service Center is operating out of a 84-door facility at 9010 N.E. 13th Ave., Portland, Ore. The new 15.6-acre site includes an onsite shop, scale and fueling facilities.
The firm expects the new facility to 'significantly increase our freight capacity, creating major operational efficiencies, which will expedite service times and reduce handling for fewer claims.'
In November, Old Dominion opened a new 20-door service center on a two-acre site in Eugene, Ore.
Both moves come after David Congdon's early November promotion to president and chief executive officer. Congdon, formerly president and chief operating officer, took over the CEO role from his father Earl Congdon. The Congdon family founded the carrier in 1934.
Old Dominion operates 192 service center locations in 47 states.
