OmniTRAX to operate stretch of CSX track
Shortline railroad holding company OmniTRAX said it leased 120 miles of track in Alabama from CSX Transportation. The line, formerly knonwn as CSX’s Alabama Mineral Subdivision, will be operated by OmniTRAX subsidiary, the Alabama & Tennessee River Railway.
Customers served by the line, which runs between Gadsden and Alabama City via Birmingham, include Tyson Foods, Georgia Pacific, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Cargill, Praxair and National Cement. The line also serves the Port of Guntersville on the Tennessee River.
