OOCL names first of eight 5,888-TEU ships
Orient Overseas Container Line Thursday named the first of eight 5,888-TEU vessels ordered from Imabari Shipbuilding Group.
The naming ceremony for the “OOCL Vancouver” was held at Imabari’s Koyo dockyard in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan.
The new ship will later this month join the Grand Alliance’s Pacific North-West Express service between the Far East and the Canadian port of Vancouver.
The remaining seven ships are scheduled to be delivered from Imbari by the end of 2007.
