ORLANDO AIRPORT GETS NEW CUSTOMS HOUSE
The U.S. Customs Service and the Orlando Airport Authority announced the opening of a new Customs house at the airport to service importers and exporters.
The new “Area Port” facility, located on Binnacle Way in Orlando, will also provide services to the Florida ports of Port Sanford and Port Canaveral, and to user-fee-based operations at Melbourne and Daytona.
The Area Port, which will be managed by Director Karl Brown, is assigned to the North Florida Customs Management Center in Tampa. The operation will process cargo, collect duties and inspect freight.
A Federal Inspections Station with ramp access will be located on site to clear private planes. The facility will also serve as an emergency supply center for Customs in the Southeast.
