Osprey expands New Orleans/Baton Rouge container-on-barge service

Osprey Line has increased its container-on-barge service between the ports of New Orleans and Baton Rouge by adding a second weekly service.

The company started the service in 2000. Osprey’s barges call at the Napoleon Container and France Road terminals.

The main commodities moved by the Osprey container barges are synthetic resins, rice, steel and chemicals.

“With this weekly container-on-barge shipping schedule, local companies who import and export products through the Port of New Orleans can take advantage of lower transportation costs,” said Rick Couch, president of Osprey, in a statement. “Most products can be moved by container-on-barge.”

Osprey is a regional ocean and inland water carrier that serves ports in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and South Atlantic Coast of the United States.
