PANAMA CANAL AUTHORITY NAMES SIX TO ADVISORY BOARD

   The Panama Canal Authority said Wednesday it has appointed six new members to its advisory board.

   They are Admiral William J. Flanagan, Jr., former commander-in-chief of the U.S. Navy’s Atlantic Fleet; Ernst Frankel, professor emeritus in ocean systems at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Aaron Gellman, professor at Northwestern University Transportation Center; L. Francis Rooney III, chairman and chief executive officer of Rooney Brothers Co.; Isao Shintani, “K” Line’s chairman of the board; and Capt. Wei Jiafu, group president and CEO, China Ocean Shipping Co.

   The Panama Canal Authority is the autonomous agency of the government of Panama in charge of managing, operating and maintaining the Canal.
