Panama Canal CEO inducted into Maritime Hall of Fame
Alberto Alem'n Zubieta, Panama Canal Authority administrator and chief executive officer, was inducted into the International Maritime Hall of Fame during ceremonies Wednesday in New York.
He is the only administrator for the canal since Panama took control from the United States at the end of 1999.
“I am fortunate to have led the Panama Canal’s world-class workforce during the transition of the waterway to Panama and at the beginning of this new century. They have my deepest gratitude and respect for their hard work, which has made the canal incredibly efficient and admired around the world,” he said.
