Panama president to address AAPA conference
Panama President Mart'n Torrijos Espino will deliver the keynote address at a luncheon at the American Association of Port Authorities' annual seaports conference Tuesday in Norfolk, Va.
Torrijos led the campaign for voter approval of the Panama Canal expansion, which needed public endorsement from a referendum election before the project could be authorized. The project will have significant impact on ports from Panama all the way up the U.S. East Coast.
His speech will be at the Norfolk Marriott Waterside Hotel, the host hotel for the conference. The annual AAPA event attracts port executives and shipping industry companies from throughout the Americas and the Caribbean.
