P&O NEDLLOYD TO MERGE ASIA/SOUTH AMERICA AND ASIA/SOUTH AFRICA
SERVICES
P&O Nedlloyd said that it will merge its Asia/East Coast South America and Asia/South Africa services and introduce new vessels on the route by next April.
P&O Nedlloyd said it will provide “a fast trunk-line service which will operate between Asian ports and Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.” The service network will also extend to South Africa, offering weekly calls in Port Elizabeth westbound and Durban eastbound.
In a related move, P&O Nedlloyd confirmed that it will withdraw from Safari, the Asia/southern Africa vessel-sharing agreement, at the end of March.
The amended Asia/East Coast South America weekly service of P&O Nedlloyd will also involve Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, P&O Nedlloyd’s existing partner in the Asia/East Coast of South America trade. P&O Nedlloyd and MOL currently run a Asia/East Coast of South America joint container service with a 10-day frequency.
