Polar Air switches airports
Polar Air Cargo said it is shifting its European hub for India service from Amsterdam's Schiphol International Airport to its growing hub at Liege, Belgium. The news follows its announcement Sept. 29 that it selected Globe Air Cargo NV as its general sales agent in Belgium and Luxembourg.
Polar will operate round-trip 747 freighter service from Liege to Mumbai and Chennai with a stop in Dubai, and back, three times a week.
Polar said Liege Airport is an ideal location because it is an all-cargo facility that is open 24 hours per day, lacks congestion and is centrally located to deliver shipments by truck throughout Europe.
Earlier this month, Polar said it added one additional weekly flight between Amsterdam and both Mumbai and Chennai.
Polar also flies to Seoul, South Korea and New York from Liege. Spokesman Tom Becher said Polar still flies between Amsterdam and the United States.
