POLAR AIR TAKES DELIVERY OF SECOND B747-400
Polar Air Cargo, the rebounding California-based all-cargo airline, has taken delivery of its second B747-400 freighter and will take its third into service on Thursday, the company said.
Polar will operate the planes on transpacific routes between the United States and Tokyo, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Two more B747-400s are scheduled for delivery in 2001 and 2002. The planes are being leased on a long-term basis from GE Capital Aviation Services, Polar's parent.
Polar is also taking delivery of B747-200s it has purchased this year. It took one on Nov. 3 and will add another on Nov. 21.
