Port Everglades celebrates Fleet Week

Port Everglades is hosting its annual Fleet Week May 1 through May 7, with a variety of military vessels and thousands of sailors in port to recognize the military's contribution to the U.S.

Port officials said four U.S. Navy ships, a fast attack submarine, a U.S. Coast Guard cutter, and two Canadian Navy vessels would come into the port during the week. The events will be capped over the weekend with the annual Air and Sea Show, which includes military aircraft.

“Fleet Week USA reinforces the vital symbiotic relationship necessary between the U.S. Navy and the American people,” said Rear Admiral Mark Boensel, Commander of Navy Region Southeast.
