Port of Baltimore thrives in 2017

The mid-Atlantic port handled 38.4 million tons of cargo valued at $53.9 billion during the year.

   The Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore’s public and private marine terminals handled 38.4 million tons of cargo in 2017, the most since 1979, the Maryland Port Administration said.
   The cargo was collectively valued at $53.9 billion.
   Meanwhile, the mid-Atlantic port’s public and private auto terminals handled a record 807,194 cars and light trucks during the year.
   Ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting’s Port Dashboard tool shows the port is called by 24 liner services that connect it to other regions outside North America, consisting of 13 that deploy roll-on/roll-off vessels or pure car/truck carriers; eight that deploy fully cellular containerships; and one that deploys conro vessels.
