   The Port of Brunswick's Colonel's Island Terminal handled 21,970 auto and machinery units in September, a 16.5-percent increase over September 2000.

   During fiscal year 2001, ended Sept. 30, the Colonel's Island roll-on/roll-off terminal moved a record 218,586 units, up 12 percent over fiscal 2000.

   “Ro/ro operations at the Port of Brunswick are a very important segment of business for the authority,” said Fitz L. Hiltzheimer, director of strategic development for the Georgia Ports Authority. “We will continue to expand GPA’s ro/ro facilities to handle the growing volume of automobiles, machinery and special projects cargo moving via port facilities.”
