Port of Felixstowe receives cranes from China
The Hutchison-operated port of Felixstowe has taken delivery of one ship-to-shore gantry crane and nine rubber-tired gantry cranes from Shanghai-based Zhenhua Port Machinery Co.
The fully erected cranes arrived at the United Kingdom port after a nine week ocean journey from China.
The new rubber-tired gantry cranes are capable of lifting one container over five and can straddle seven rows of containers. The ship-to-shore gantry crane can handle containers stowed 22-wide and can twin-lift containers weighing up to 85 tons. All the new cranes will be operational at the port’s Trinity Terminal, and increase the number of rubber-tired cranes at the port to more than 100, and ship-to-shore gantry cranes to 25.
It is anticipated that the cranes will be fully operational by the end of the year, following full commissioning tests.
