PORT OF GALVESTON RE-APPOINTS SCHATTEL CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
The port of Galveston, Texas, has re-elected Donald L. Schattel chairman of the board and Charlotte A. O’Rourke as vice chairman.
Schattel said that the port will continue efforts to diversify its traditional cargo mix and attract new businesses.
Schattel is retired from the Galveston Park Board of Trustees. O’Rourke is employed at the University of Texas medical branch.
In addition to Schattel and O’Rourke, the composition of the board includes city council representative to the board Mayor Roger R. Quiroga, Paradigm Bank; Robert E. Hoskins, attorney at law; Benjamin F. Holland, ILA district office; Andrew L. Laws, ILA district office; and Rusty Vey Legg, Competitive Electric.
The port of Galveston is a separate utility of the city of Galveston designated by provision of a charter. The charter provides that all city-owned port facilities be managed by a board of trustees of the Galveston wharves.
