Port of Houston to discuss security contracts
The commission of the Port of Houston Authority will consider today several recommendations involving security contract awards.
The commission will consider a recommendation to evaluate and rank proposals for a three-year, professional services contract for unarmed, uniformed security gate officer services at the port’s terminal gates and cruise terminal parking lot.
In a related matter, the commission will consider a recommendation to evaluate and rank qualifications for a design/build contract for the port’s security infrastructure. This would include the design and installation of systems for access control, closed-circuit television surveillance, fencing, lighting, gate entrances, emergency response and evacuation. Pending commission authorization, the estimated amount of the contract award is expected to be approximately $12 million.
