PORT OF KANDLA TURNS AWAY SHIPS WITH STOWAWAYS
'The U.K. P&I Club said the port of Kandla, close to the India-Pakistan border, is not allowing any vessels to berth if they have stowaways on board.
The Club said a ship operated by one of its ocean carrier members had to sail from Kandla to Mumbai to disembark a stowaway. The Mumbai authorities would not allow the vessel to sail until the stowaway’s flight to Tanzania was actually in the air. Upon returning to Kandla, the ship had to join the end of the queue for berthing facilities.
