PORT OF MOBILE, ICS LOGISTICS STRIKE DEAL ON COLD STORAGE FACILITY
The Alabama State Ports Authority and ICS Logistics have entered into a multiyear deal to modify and expand the Port of Mobile's Pier A South Terminal into a cold storage facility.
ICS Logistics, based in Jacksonville, said it would export poultry and other commodities from the facility. Once completed, the cold-storage facility will be able to blast freeze up to 2.5 million pounds a week. Blast freezing allows clean, processed product transported into the port to be frozen on site immediately prior to export.
The facility will target poultry, pork, beef and other food products for imports and exports with Africa, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, eastern and western Caribbean, Central and South America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
ICS Logistics provides warehousing, trucking, stevedoring and shipping services in Jacksonville, Manatee and Tampa, Fla.
