Preussag AG, the conglomerate that owns Hapag-Lloyd, reported a group profit for 2001 of euro 411.3 million ($367 million), up 2.2 percent over 2000, despite an increase in goodwill amortization associated with acquisitions.

Operating profit rose 8.6 percent to a record euro 811.4 million ($724 million). Revenue rose 2.6 percent to euro 22.41 billion ($20.0 billion).

The logistics division saw its operating profit jump 39.9 percent to euro 308.4 million ($275 million), while revenue rose 8.4 percent to euro 3.89 billion ($3.47 billion).
