PRINCE JOINS OPTIMIZATION ALTERNATIVES LTD.
Theodore Prince has joined railroad information systems developer Optimization Alternatives Ltd. as senior vice president for marketing and sales.
Prince, who has more than 20 years in the intermodal industry, was a principal of Transgistics LLC, a consulting and investment partnership focused on transportation and logistics.
He also served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of “K” Line America and The Rail-Bridge Corp. He began his career at Conrail and its motor carrier subsidiary.
A former director of the Intermodal Association of North America and current director of the Foundation for Intermodal Research and Education, Prince writes a monthly column for American Shipper as well as providing intermodal analysis.
Optimization Alternatives, based in Austin, Texas, was founded in 1986. The company provides support systems to international railroads, including five of the top railroads in North America.
Prince said he was attracted to Optimization Alternatives because of its ability to electronically integrate intermodal services data.
“I’ve worked in three modes of transportation, and the industry has always struggled with terminal operations,” Prince said. “It’s clear to me that handling information is going to be highly critical to future transport managers. This is where the action is, and I’m pleased to have a role as this exciting service expands and grows.”
