PRIVRATSKY TO STAY AT MTMC ANOTHER YEAR

Maj. Gen. Kenneth L. Privratsky said Monday he will remain as head of the U.S. Military Traffic Management Command for another year.

Privratsky took command of the military’s ocean and overland transportation logistics unit in July 1999 for a two-year tour. He said a big reason for staying on another year is to see through the agency’s extensive reorganization, which is scheduled to last through June 2003.

“I am very pleased to be able to continue working with the professionals of the Military Traffic Management Command and industry to improve support to the military community,” Privratsky said.

Privratsky has pushed the agency to abandon outdated government logistics practices and replace them with commercial-based logistics practices, which allows MTMC to more quickly respond to Defense Department shippers. MTMC has also saved itself millions of dollars a year in operations costs through these changes.
