Public comments sought on LNG traffic in Chesapeake Bay
The U.S. Coast Guard has asked for public comment on the suitability of Chesapeake Bay to handle increased maritime traffic resulting from the proposed expansion of the Dominion Cove Point Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility at Cove Point, Md.
An assessment made by Det Norske Veritas USA, Inc., a vessel classification society, concluded that additional LNG ship traffic related to the project would not pose an undue hazard to Chesapeake Bay or to the facility, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
All comments must be submitted by March 16. They may be sent by e-mail to joseph.s.dufresne@uscg.mil . For more information, call Lt. Commander Joe DuFresne at (410) 576-2619.
