Puget Sound pilots approve 24% tariff increase
The Washington State Board of Pilotage Commissioners has agreed to a request from the Puget Sound pilots for a 24 percent increase in the Pilot Tariff, as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration MARAD News Watch.
The actual increase will be a 24 percent increase in most tariff items with a doubling of all hourly charges and the new rates will become effective on July 1. The commission's decision follows some nine months of resistance by the industry to the pilots' rate increase request.
