Puyallup Tribe will move casino to open up Tacoma port site
The Port of Tacoma Commission and the Puyallup Tribe Council have agreed to jointly develop and market properties for maritime use along the East Blair Waterway in Tacoma, Washington.
The sites include land on which the Puyallup Tribe’s Emerald Queen Casino now operates. “The Tribe will move those operations out of the port industrial area to a more suitable location,” the Port of Tacoma Commission said in a statement Monday.
The site of the casino will be used to develop a container terminal on the East Blair Waterway. As part of its agreement with the tribe, “the port will invest $5 million in fisheries mitigation,” the commission said.
