QATAR AIRWAYS SELECTS SITAÆS ASP MODEL
Qatar Airways has selected SITA's SuperCargo application service provider (ASP) model to automate its cargo operations, from reservations to final delivery and transfer.
SITA, the integrated information and telecommunications provider for the airline industry, will combine software, implementation, infrastructure, service and support of SuperCargo on a rental basis.
Qatar's customers will be able to use a standard Web browser to make reservations and check on the status of shipments, while staff will be able to use SuperCargo's revenue management tools and SITA's data repository.
The system is hosted at SITA's information hubs in Atlanta, London and — by mid 2001, in Doha, Qatar.
“Using the ASP model we can offer our customers flexible, secure and reliable access to our applications and help them to streamline and more effectively manage their global operations,” said Hugh Doyle, vice president of SITA Logistics Solutions.
SITA's SuperCargo is used by 52 airlines and processes more than 6 million shipments per year, with 80 percent rated and priced by SITA.
