Quay crane delivered to Voltri Terminal Europa
Voltri Terminal Europa, one of the major container terminals in Genoa, northern Italy, Friday received the first of two new quay cranes.
The cranes are designed and manufactured in Italy by Reggiane Cranes and Plants, and are five meters (16.4 feet) taller than the existing cranes at the terminal. They can handle vessels with 18 container rows across and are capable of twin-lift operations.
The second quay crane is expected to arrive by September, bringing the number of quay cranes at the terminal to 10. Voltri Terminal Europa also has two additional quay cranes on option.
Voltri Terminal Europa is part of Singapore-based port group PSA Corp. “The quay cranes are part of PSA’s commitment to invest and grow VTE, the major gateway to Central and Southern Europe,” PSA said in a statement.
