RAILAMERICA ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS
RailAmerica Inc., the Boca Raton, Fla.-based short line and regional railroad operator, has promoted Peter Turrell to vice president of international operations, and appointed Mark A. Hinsdale to general manager of transportation at Freight Australia.
Turrell will provide operational support and management direction to RailAmerica's foreign subsidiaries. A 30-year veteran of the rail industry, he joined RailAmerica two years ago as general manager of operations for Freight Australia. He previously served as vice president at Railroad Development Corp., an international rail operator; as regional vice president of Amtrak; vice president and general manager at Kansas City Southern Railroad; and chief operating officer at Nuevo Central Argentino S.A., a 3,000-mile railroad in Argentina.
Hinsdale, who succeeds Turrell at Freight Australia, joins RailAmerica from CSX Transportation, where he worked more than 30 years with CSXT and its predecessor railroads. He was most recently general manager of CSX's Chicago division.
RailAmerica also appointed Daniel A. Hershman as associate general counsel. He joins the company from W.R. Grace & Co., an international specialty chemical company, where he was senior litigation counsel.
