RAILAMERICA REPORTS SECOND QUARTER DROP
RailAmerica Inc. has reported a second quarter net income of $4.2 million, a 45-percent decrease from the same period of 2000. Consolidated revenue for the same period was $93.5 million, down 2.6 percent. Operating income dropped 21.6 percent, to approximately $19.6 million.
The company’s North American operations accounted for $61.5 million of the consolidated revenue, down 3 percent from last year. Revenue from international operations dropped 1.2 percent, to $31.9 million.
For the first half of 2001, RailAmerica has seen a 58.8 percent increase in net income, to $6.9 million. Consolidated revenues for the period were up 4.9 percent, to $185.4 million. Operating income decreased to $37.5 million, 3.6 percent drop.
North American operations showed a 9.5 percent increase in revenue to $123.3 million in the first half of 2001. Revenue from international operations dropped 2.7 percent to $61.9 million.
