Raymond, Luft to discuss security issues at February conference
Charles 'Chuck' Raymond, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Horizon Lines, will discuss the state of industry compliance with requirements of the U.S. Marine and Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and the International Ship and Port Facilities Security (ISPS) Code at a maritime and port security conference, Feb. 1-2 in Washington, D.C.
Other speakers include Gal Luft, executive director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, and Rep. Don Young, chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
Carl Bentzel, of DCI Group, will discuss future changes to MTSA and ISPS. Jay Grant, director of the Port Security Council of America, will assess the likelihood of increased federal funding for port and maritime security.
Kim Petersen, president of SeaSecure, will discuss how companies can assess security threats. Jeff High, director of maritime domain awareness for the U.S. Coast Guard, will report on the status of long-range data and tracking technology for shipped goods.
