REP. VITTER INTRODUCES PORT SECURITY BILL
A Louisiana congressman has introduced a port security bill that would establish a security advisory committee, while forming local port security committees and deploying sea marshals to defend maritime facilities and vessels from terrorist attacks.
Rep. David Vitter (R-La.) claims the legislation would provide a more comprehensive plan for homeland security.
“A comprehensive port security plan is a key component of our national homeland security strategy,” Vitter said in a statement. “While the Senate has already acted on port security legislation, I am hopeful that the House will soon consider similar legislation.”
