RETAILERS WELCOME U.S. WTO ACCESSION AGREEMENT WITH CHINA
The International Mass Retail Association issued a statement applauding U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick for reaching an agreement with China on most of the remaining bilateral issues surrounding China’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
IMRA also urged the WTO to complete its protocol for China’s membership before the end of this year, and called upon Congress to extend China’s annual Normal Trade Relations status.
“The agreement this week will help ensure a free flow of goods and services between the United States and China, benefiting consumers of both countries,” said IMRA President Robert J. Verdisco. “We urge U.S. Trade Representative Zoellick and Congress to fully recognize that benefit and do everything necessary to ensure WTO accession.”
