Rice pushes for approval of Latin FTA
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Tuesday told the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington that it is critical for Congress to approve trade agreements with Peru, Panama and Colombia.
Democrats have dragged their heels on the agreements, even though party leaders reached an agreement with the Bush administration in December to move forward with the trade pacts.
Blocking the agreements, Rice warned, 'would send a signal loud and clear across the region that the United States cannot be trusted to keep its promises.'
