Rickmers orders four ships from Iranian shipyard
German breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargo shipping line Rickmers-Linie has ordered four multipurpose heavy-lift vessels from the Iranian Sadra Shipyard.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery between July 2007 and July 2008. They will have an overall length of 175 meters (574 feet) and a beam of 26.5 meters (87 feet), and they will be fitted with variable height tweendecks. Indivisible heavy-lift cargoes will be handled by two 350-ton cranes that will have the facility to be twinned for handling loads of up to 700 tons, Rickmers-Linie said.
Rickmers-Linie said it will deploy the new ships in its U.S. Gulf and East Coast/Europe/Middle East/India liner service.
