Rocket attacks threatened against tankers in Nigerian waters
A Nigerian militant group calling itself the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta has threatened to fire rockets at oil tankers operating along the country’s shores, according to a news report by the Associated Press.
The AP said these are same militants who claimed responsibility for taking nine foreign workers hostage over the weekend. The workers were nabbed from a barge operated by Houston-based Willbros, which was setting pipe for Shell’s crude oil operation in Nigeria.
The group has asserted that it wants a larger share of Nigeria’s oil wealth, the AP said.
