Rosen to lead USDOT Regulatory Reform Task Force

U.S. Transportation Department’s Deputy Secretary Jeffrey Rosen has been tapped by Secretary Elaine Chao to head the department’s Regulatory Reform Task Force.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao has tapped Deputy Secretary Jeffrey Rosen to head the department’s Regulatory Reform Task Force.
The task force was formed earlier this year in accordance with President Trump’s Executive Order 13777, which directs each agency to establish a regulatory reform task force to make recommendations to alleviate or eliminate undue regulatory burdens.
Chao has directed the task force to consider ways to accomplish DOT’s primary safety objectives in less burdensome ways and to further review so-called “midnight rules” issued at the end of the Obama administration.
Rosen was confirmed by the Senate in mid-May as DOT’s deputy secretary. He had previously served as general counsel to both DOT and the White House’s Office of Management and Budget for the years 2003 to 2006 and 2006 to 2009, respectively. Rosen has also worked for 30 years as a senior attorney at law firm Kirkland and Ellis.
