RS Components picks Schenker

   RS Components, distributors of electronic, electrical, mechanical health and safety products, has selected Schenker as its sole provider of land distribution services between the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.

   Schenker provides outbound land distribution services throughout Europe via its central U.K. hub in Nuneaton, connecting with daily scheduled services to RS Components' key markets of Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Denmark. Schenker also manages supplier collections from RS Components' European vendor base and customer returns back to its central distribution center in the United Kingdom.

   'Schenker has been our European land transport provider for over eight years and has established a strategic understanding of our business needs to deliver a cost effective solution to RS Components,' said Frank Peplinski, RS Components' general manager supply chain. 'Schenker is best equipped to support our demanding service needs through its wholly owned network which is not reliant on third party agents.'

   Schenker and BAX Global are in the process of integrating around the world. Together they are now the largest company for European land transportation. Schenker is a part of DB Logistics, the transportation and logistics division of Germany's Deutsche Bahn AG.
