RYDER LAUNCHES AEROSPACE INDUSTRY INITIATIVE
Ryder System Inc., the Miami-based logistics and supply-chain management provider, has launched an industry team that will focus on providing supply chain and logistics services to aerospace customers.
The team, which will operate as Ryder – Aerospace Supply Chain Management, will target aerospace original equipment manufacturers and their leading suppliers, as well as commercial airlines. Services provided for the manufacturers and their suppliers will be related to demand and supply chain management planning, purchasing, transportation management, distribution and warehousing and geo-positioning of inventory to meet customers' operating needs.
Material management activities provided by the Ryder team focus on component repair cycle turnaround times, scheduled maintenance planning cycle, warranty services administration, tool control, inventory deployment, order fulfillment and management of beyond economical repair components.
The team will be led by Argyle O. “Skip” Wakeman as director of business development, and Michael G. Whitten, as manager of business development of aerospace supply chain management.
Both were formerly with BAX Global, Wakeman as director of aerospace supply chain management, and Whitten as business development manager, with responsibility for the aerospace industry.
