RYDER SYSTEMS TO OPEN DEDICATED FACILITY FOR WHIRLPOOL
Ryder System Inc. will open an 800,000-square-foot parts packaging and distribution facility in Plainfield, Ind. For Whirlpool Corp., a leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances.
The facility will consolidate Whirlpool Corp.'s after-sale appliance parts packaging in the United States, replacing operations handled by Whirlpool facilities in West Lafayette, Ind. and similar vendor operations in Michigan City, Ind. and Benton Harbor, Mich. The transition is to be completed by mid-December.
In addition, Ryder is assuming responsibility under an extended agreement for the distribution of Whirlpool's after-sales appliance parts which have been handled by the Whirlpool facility in La Porte, Ind.
Ryder, based in Miami, provides logistics, supply chain and transportation management solutions worldwide.
