RYDER TO CLOSE WASHINGTON, D.C. OFFICE

   Ryder System Inc., the supply chain management and transportation service provider, said it will close its Washington, D.C. government relations office and transfer its functions to corporate headquarters in Miami within the next 60 to 90 days.

   “Ryder will continue to be an active member in its industry associations, including the American Trucking Associations, the Truck Renting and Leasing Association, state trucking associations and the National Association of Manufacturers,” said Gregory T. Swienton, Ryder's president and chief executive officer. “Ryder will maintain, or expand, where appropriate, its federal and state activities on issues that are critical to our business.”

   Lisa Rickard had been senior vice president of government relations.
