Safmarine, Maersk Sealand finalize revised Asia/South Africa link
Safmarine and Maersk Sealand have finalized arrangements for a revised Asia/South Africa container service, following the breakup of their former vessel-sharing agreement with Mediterranean Shipping Co on the same route.
The revised “Safari” service will be operated jointly by Safmarine and Maersk Sealand from the end of March. It will have a rotation of Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Louis, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Port Louis, Tanjung Pelepas, Kaohsiung and Shanghai.
MSC will operate a separate, competing service in the same trade.
