SAFMARINE TAKES WEST CENTRAL ASIAN AGENCY OPERATIONS IN-HOUSE
Safmarine, the multi-trade ocean carrier in the A.P. Moller Group, will take over agency operations in the West Central Asia region and has named Grant Daly as regional manager for the region.
Daly, who will relocate from Singapore to Dubai, reports to Alan Jones, Safmarine’s regional executive in Singapore.
Safmarine is ending its long-time relationships with its agencies in the West Central Asia region, Barber Dubai Shipping Agencies Co. LLC and Sharaf Shipping Agency LLC.
A number of Safmarine staff will transfer to Dubai from existing representation. Nicholas Silveira, a veteran in the United Arab Emirates shipping industry, has been appointed general manager.
Safmarine serves the region with its Europe/Middle East 'Epic' Service, U.S. East Coast 'Indamex' service, India Ocean Islands/southern Africa/East Coast South America 'Samba' service, East Africa/Middle East 'Indian Ocean Express' service, and West Africa service via Europe and South Africa.
Safmarine, which is a separately managed member of the Danish A.P. Moller Group, markets its liner shipping services independently from sister company Maersk Sealand.
