SAFMARINE TO ADD THREE LINKED EAST AFRICA SERVICES

   Safmarine said it will introduce three new interlinked services to and from East Africa in April.

   “These moves follow the notice period, given last year, to withdraw from the Europe – East African Conference, and from the Indian Ocean Vessel Sharing Agreement,” the ocean carrier said Monday.

   SafMarine’s East Africa Express, serving Europe and East Africa, will call at Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Le Havre, Algeciras, Gioia Tauro, Salalah, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Mombasa, and Salalah, with Salalah being the connecting hub.

   The carrier’s Indian Ocean Service, will have the following port rotation: Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Salalah, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Mombasa, Salalah, and Karachi. India, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates will be served directly.

   The new Southern Africa-East Africa service will have the following rotation: Durban, Maputo, Beira, Nacala, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Beira, Durban.
