SAFMARINE TO JOIN MAERSK SEALAND IN EUROPE/INDIA TRADE
Safmarine will leave the EPIC consortium of Europe/Indian Subcontinent carriers at the end of June to start a cooperative service with its sister company Maersk Sealand.
Safmarine has been providing a Europe/Indian Subcontinent service within the EPIC consortium with fellow carriers Contship Containerlines, P&O Nedlloyd, CMA CGM, Ellerman and Hapag-Lloyd.
From early July, its service with Maersk Sealand will employ six post-Panamax vessels. Maersk Sealand was already active in the Europe/Indian Subcontinent trade, operating an independent service. The carriers have not announced the port rotation of the planned joint service.
