Salalah terminal appoints Meester CEO
Tiemen Meester, a former Maersk Sealand executive, will succeed Jack Helton as the chief executive officer of Salalah Port Services Co., the operator of the Omani transshipment container hub, effective March 1.
Helton, who has been CEO of the terminal for the last eight years, has overseen the construction, operation and expansion of the port of Salalah since its inception.
“During this period, Salalah Port Services has delivered consistent improved financial results,” the company said in a statement.
Helton will remain in Oman at the helm of the newly formed regional office of APM Terminals with responsibilities to manage and oversee all new projects within the Middle East and Central Asia Region. He will continue to be associated with Salalah Port Services as an advisor to the board of directors.
Meester has been CEO of Maersk Eastern Europe.
The A.P. Moller-Maersk group is a shareholder in the Omani container terminal.
