SCHENKER COMBINES ROAD, SEA AND AIR SERVICES IN U.K.
Schenker has integrated all its United Kingdom air, sea and land operations and logistics into one company.
The new company, born out of Schenker-BTL and Schenker Ltd., will employ some 490 people in the U.K. at 18 locations and have revenues in excess of '92 million ($130 million) a year.
The new organization will be known as Schenker Ltd.
Land transport, air and sea freight, together with associated logistics services, will all now be available from a single source.
Heading up the new operation in the U.K. is Hans-J. Schlausch as managing director. “We are building on Schenker’s worldwide strategy of offering true one-stop-shopping,” Schlausch said.
Schenker has developed three time-based products for the trade lanes connecting the most important markets in Europe, based on how rapidly customers require delivery of their products. The products are: Schenkersystem, an “affordable, reliable, systemized and scheduled service” for Europe; Schenkertop, a service with delivery of the shipment on a specified day, with money-back guarantee; and Schenkertop12, a service with delivery by noon on a specified date, with money-back guarantee.
